EVENT SCHEDULE
B. TO ENTER: To register for the Make-a-Movie Weekend, print and fill out and send in the TERMS AND CONDITIONS FORM (see "E" below). Registration is based on a first-come first-served basis and space is limited to 12 teams of 4 members or fewer. Registration fees are $35 per team, payable to the North Wayne Schoolhouse Project.
C. REGISTRATION PERIOD Registration will begin when announced publicly online and in the Community Advertiser and Messenger. Further announcements with registration opportunities will appear as needed. Registration ends when all spaces are full. If a team must withdraw from the Event for any reason, the team may appoint another team to enter in its place, but no refunds will be given.
D. TEAM COMMITMENT AGREEMENT Entrants will appoint a Team Leader who will sign a Team Commitment Agreement agreeing to the official rules and guidelines. If a team leader is under 21 years of age, that team leader’s parent or legal guardian must sign the Agreement on his/her behalf.
E. TO COMPLETE REGISTRATION Registration is complete when the signed “Team Commitment Agreement” form and the registration fee are delivered to the Committee by email attachment to loonalone@roadrunner.com or by mail or in person to the Make-A-Movie Weekend Committee at 31 Lonefeather Lane, Wayne ME 04284.
F. KICKOFF MEETING Make-a-Movie Weekend will commence at the Kickoff Meeting to be held at the North Wayne Schoolhouse in North Wayne, Maine, on Friday, August 20, 2010 at 6 pm.
G. CLOSING CELEBRATION Each participating group/team must complete its video work in time to deliver it to the Schoolhouse on Sunday August 22 at the “It’s a Wrap” party on Sunday, August 22, 2010 at 6 pm.
H. MAKE A MOVIE FILM FESTIVAL The films will be screened for the public at the Make-a-Movie Film Festival to be held on Saturday August 28 at 6 PM at which time winners in each category and prizes will be announced.
I. MYSTERY PROP At the Kickoff Meeting teams will receive a mystery prop and be given exactly 48 hours to make a video (an "Entry") that is a minimum of 4 minutes and maximum of 6 minutes in length. All movies must contain the mystery prop. All Entries must be created and completed during the 48-hour period designated as the Make-a-Movie Weekend.
J. ATTENDANCE Team members should be present at the Kickoff Meeting, “It’s a Wrap” Party, and Make-a-Movie Film Festival to participate. The team leader must be present.
PREPARING THE ENTRY
A. Most work on the film must be completed during the 48 hours of the Make-A-Movie Weekend. Such work includes, but is not limited to:
- Writing any script, if script is used
- Rehearsing, if done
- Costume/Set work
- Shooting
- Editing
- Sound
- Rendering, if done
- Outputting to DVD or USB flash drive
B. Work that can be done prior to the official 48-hour time period is:
- Organizing Crew
- Organizing Cast
- Securing Equipment
- Scouting/Securing Locations
C. No stock footage or footage shot or created at another time may be used.
D. Animation and special effects are permitted, but must be created during the 48-hour time period.
E. Still photographs are permitted, provided that the team has the rights to them. The photos do not need to be created during the 48-hour time period.
F. All costs associated with the production of the Entry are solely the responsibility of the Entrants.
G. All cast and crew must be volunteers.
H. Any type of video or film recording equipment may be used.
I. Films must be submitted on one of the following media: DVD or USB flash drive.
J. The finished film should have a title card with team name, date, title.
K. We recommend that each team make two copies of the final film, one for submission and one as backup.
L. The film must be viewable on a Mac or PC.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS
A. As Team Leader, I certify that I/the team own all rights to the Entry, including, without limitation, the video or digital recording, and the performance contained in each Entry.
B. As Team Leader, I grant/do not grant to the North Wayne Schoolhouse Make-a-Movie committee the rights to use the Entry in the following ways: (please indicate by writing “grant or “do not grant”.)
- I _______________the right to screen the Entry at the Make-a-Movie Weekend Screening Event at the North Wayne Schoolhouse;
- I _______________the right to screen the Entry at subsequent Make-A-Movie events held at the North Wayne Schoolhouse at dates yet to be determined.
- I _______________ a one-time right to post the video on the North Wayne Schoolhouse blog site to promote future Make-a-Movie Weekend events.
- I ______________ a one-time right to include the Entry in a DVD of the North Wayne Schoolhouse Make-a-Movie Festival, which will be sold as a fundraising item by the Schoolhouse at the Festival and at other future Schoolhouse events, with all proceeds going to the North Wayne Schoolhouse.
C. I understand that the Make-a-Movie Weekend Committee and the North Wayne Schoolhouse agree to clearly, accurately and consistently give proper credits for each Entry at each screening, online appearance and on the DVD and at any other time the Entry is used, shown or mentioned.
D. As Team Leader, I agree to the terms set forth in “Preparing the Entry.”
E. As Team Leader, I agree to accept personal liability for all claims and damages, expenses, costs and conduct arising out of the participation in this Project, including but not limited to property damage, trademark, copyright, or other intellectual property infringement, right of publicity, right of privacy or defamation.
F. As Team Leader, I agree to release, indemnify and hold harmless Make-a-Movie Weekend Committee members and the North Wayne Schoolhouse from any and all claims.
G. As Team Leader, I agree that the Make-a-Movie Weekend Committee, the North Wayne Schoolhouse and any of their affiliates may not be held liable for any disputes between team collaborators arising out of or related to the Event, nor can they assume any responsibility or liability for technical or communications problems or technical malfunction.
H. As Team Leader, I understand that this is a family event. The Team’s Entry will meet the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) “General Audience” or “G” standard. (A “G-rated” motion picture contains nothing in theme, language, nudity, sex, violence or other matters that, in the view of the MPAA Rating Board, would offend parents whose younger children view the motion picture. Additionally, the film contains no strong language, nudity, sex, or drug usage. Violence is minimal.)
